So is this only useful against foes with a movement speed of between 15' and 23'? So that they can only dash 45' and you'll end up 30' away, but you wouldn't catch them otherwise? As long as you guess their direction perfectly. You could move, Misty Step, and attack, but you would have been able to do that anyway (and it takes a spell slot). You can dash up to the foe and repeat this one-attack sequence next turn, but you would have been able to do that anyway. On your turn you.? You can't close the distance and still melee. The foe moves 60', you move 15', so you're now 45' apart. So that sucks, but let's say you guess optimally. You have to guess which direction will be useful. That foe dashes away, provoking an attack of opportunity. Imagine you have a 30'-move foe next to you. I can't really see mechanically how it'll function effectively. And, if it did apply to the steed's speed, it would mean being able to stay closer to the quarry. Find Steed is cool and sets the Paladin apart. This probably isn't what I should be mentioning first, but I think it's important. This movement doesnвЂ™t provoke opportunity attacks.

When you hit a creature with an opportunity attack, you can move up to half your speed immediately after the attack and as part of the same reaction. I'm hoping someone can help me to understand it. It seems to me that the Vengeance Paladin's level 7 power - Relentless Avenger - is mostly useless.
